Neil Berry

Neil is from Development Trusts Association.

Yorkshire and the Humber is the country’s leading region for the Development Trust movement. The Development Trusts Association (DTA) counts some national exemplars amongst its regional members, including Goodwin Development Trust, Manor and Castle Development Trust and Royds Community Association.

Working as the DTA’s regional officer, I use my knowledge of good practice that exists throughout our membership, together with my own experience and skills, to support the emergence and growth of enterprising communities.

I have been full time in the sector in the region for 12 years, mostly involved in financial management. I started as a volunteer in two environmental and campaigning organisations (and am still now Treasurer for both). I then spent 8 years in managerial positions within a growing development trust in Sheffield, and for the past 2 years I have been working for the DTA itself.

I also hold a masters degree in Community Enterprise (Judge Institute, Cambridge University). I believe I can bring a particular perspective to the Regional Forum Board in relation to community enterprise, asset development, local engagement and partnership working. I also feel that I can provide a balanced viewpoint, working as I do in each of the four sub-regions.
