OUR TRUSTEES

The Officers of the Board and Elected Trustees are selected from member organisations at the AGM each year in November, by members of the Regional Forum. If you are interested in becoming involved please contact Judy Robinson for further details.

Co-opted Trustees are selected by the Trustee Board in order to ensure that the membership of the Board reflects the breadth and extent of the Forum's membership.

Janet Thornton

Janet is from Rural Action Yorkshire (RAY).

Janet is a trustee of Rural Action Yorkshire and the Yorkshire and Humber regional representative on ACRE’s Board (the umbrella body for the 38 rural community councils nationwide). As part of her RAY role, Janet attends the West Yorkshire Rural Affairs Forum and represents the region’s rural community councils on the Yorkshire and Humber Rural Affairs Forum’s new Management Board. She is a member of the Regional Community Empowerment Panel and one of the Panel’s representatives on the Consortium of Partners, the key bodies of the Yorkshire and Humberside Empowerment Partnership which aim to improve the quality, co-ordination and evidence of empowerment across the region. Janet also sits on Leeds City Council’s Major Development Forum for the Planning Department which consults on planned improvements to its service to stakeholders. As a parish councillor for 13 years, Janet was involved in many local initiatives e.g. a Parish Plan, Leeds City Council’s Town and Parish Council Charter. Janet is a North East Regional Committee member for Guinness Northern Counties, the second largest housing association in the country.
