Rikki Arundel

Rikki is from Gendershift.

Rikki moved to Hull in 2001 when, after a successful career in financial services technology and professional speaking, she decided to change her gender to female. Facing considerable discrimination she found herself becoming an activist, first at the University of Hull where she completed a masters degree in Gender Research, and then representing the Hull LGBT Forum on the LSP and Community Empowerment Network. In 2007 Rikki founded Gendershift, a social enterprise to challenge gender inequality by providing diversity training and support services. She is also a trustee of Hull CVS and DoC, in addition to sitting on a number of LSP boards, including the City Partnership. At a regional level she is a member of the NEP Community Panel and Regional Consortium and is a member of the VEHRN steering group. Rikki was the Founder of the Professional Speakers Association, is a Fellow of the Royal Society of Arts, and an associate of the London Academy of Music and Dramatic Arts (LAMDA). Now working increasingly at a regional level on both the Equity and Empowerment agenda's and in view of the significant planned changes in both, she is keen to contribute to the very important work that will be required of Yorkshire & the Humber Forum.
